Pete Rutkowski I was born on a naval base at the very young age of zero. Being the son of a US Navy Submariner, my family and I got to travel extensively as a youngster. Some of the locations we were stationed were exotic, such as Bermuda. More often we were living in industrial sea ports like Norfolk, Virginia. Regardless of where we were, the constant travel engrained a deep sense of wanderlust. The family finally did put down roots in the suburbs of Washington, DC.

I attended Fairfax County public schools and went on to study a multitude of subjects at James Madison University. After college I worked a few odd jobs and traveled quite a bit. Eventually I came to the conclusion that I should get some formal computer training. I had an aptitude for computers and electronics so I enrolled in the night school at George Washington University as part of their certificate in web development program.

I now reside on the other side of the Potomac, Bethesda Maryland, with my lovely wife, Mandy. Together, we spend most of our free time kayaking the rivers of the Appalachian Mountains and traveling. We are always exploring the more remote places, people and foods you can only encounter with a flexible frame of mind and travel itinerary. She is a wonderful photographer, and many of the photos on this site are shots she has taken.

I currently work as a web developer for Greenfield Belser, a design studio that is a leader in legal marketing. I have received several awards and a few of the sites I have created have received recognition in national newspapers and periodicals.
